RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE, 2020-08120113, N. Henderson Road at N. Thomas Street. At approximately 4:12 p.m. on August 12, police were dispatched to the report of a grand larceny auto just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim left their vehicle idling unattended, during which time the suspect allegedly stole it. Officers canvasing the area located the vehicle in the area of N. Glebe Road at Cathedral Lane and attempted a traffic stop which the driver actively eluded. A second traffic stop was attempted in the area of Wilson Boulevard and N. Monroe Street. The driver refused to stop, drove up on the curb, and continued to flee from officers. Officers briefly lost sight of the vehicle, but located it again when the suspect backed into a parking spot in the 3300 block of 2nd Street S. The suspect refused to exit the vehicle and began to drive again, striking a cruiser blocking it into the spot. Spike sticks were deployed as the driver attempted to flee again by reversing the vehicle onto the curb behind it. Following multiple attempts to have the suspect exit the vehicle, officers forced entry and took her into custody without incident. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect also struck a parked vehicle in the area of Wilson Boulevard and N. Monroe Street. Latia Hill, 27, of No Fixed Address,  was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny: Motor Vehicle Theft, Eluding Police and Reckless Driving, and held on no bond.

BURGLARY, 2020-08120070, 4800 block of 14th Street N. At approximately 11:49 a.m. on August 12, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 11:30 a.m., an unknown male suspect knocked on the door to the residence. When the victim did not answer the door, the suspect walked around the house looking into windows, then forced entry to the residence. The victim ran into a room and closed the door, however, the suspect entered the room and told her to get in the closet. The suspect subsequently stole an item of value from the residence and fled the scene prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a black male in his 30's, 5'9"-5'11", 170-200 lbs., wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans or pants, eye glasses, and a light blue mask or neck gaiter covering his face. Arriving officers canvased the area and a K9 track yielded negative results. The investigation is ongoing.
