REPORTS


ASSAULT & BATTERY ON POLICE, 2020-08080073, 3300 block of Lee Highway. At approximately 5:46 a.m. on August 8, police were dispatched to the report of trespassing. Upon arrival, it was determined that officers had been dispatched twice prior for the report of the suspect behaving disorderly in the lobby area. During the first call for service, the suspect was instructed to return to his room and avoid causing further disturbance in common areas. On the second call at approximately 5:12 a.m., the suspect was issued a banning notice from the property, escorted off the premises and sent on his way. At 5:46 a.m., officers were again dispatched to the location, as the suspect had allegedly returned and was inside the hotel. Officers located the suspect and took him into custody. As officers escorted the suspect out of the building, he allegedly spit on an officer and kicked two officers. While awaiting medics to evaluate the suspect, he bit a third officer. The officers were not injured. Jonathan Knell, 27, of Suitland, Md., was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement (x3), Trespassing, and Drunk in Public and held on no bond.

SEXUAL BATTERY, 2020-08080135, Wilson Boulevard at N. Pollard Street. At approximately 3:59 p.m. on August 8, police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that approximately 10-15 minutes prior, the victim was walking in the area when the male suspect approached her from behind. The victim began walking in the opposite direction, at which point the suspect began to chase her. The suspect then moved towards the victim and smacked her buttocks, then fled on foot prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as a Black male in his mid 30's, with a slim build, approximately 5'8", clean shaven, with an almost buzzed haircut, wearing a brown t-shirt and eyeglasses. The investigation is ongoing.
