This Super Bowl Sunday, Make it Your Game Plan to Take a Sober Ride H

ARLINGTON, Va. — Super Bowl LIII is slated for kick-off this Sunday, February 3, and, for many, this celebratory evening includes alcohol. Enjoy the game and festivities, but don't drop the ball on safety. Make it your game plan to take a sober ride home — whether it's by using a ride sharing service, taxi, public transportation, or designated sober driver.

The Arlington County Police Department and law enforcement agencies across the country are teaming up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to remind the public that Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk. Designated drivers are the best defense against impaired driving and ensuring everyone arrives home safely at the end of the night.

According to data from NHTSA, in 2017, there were 10,874 people killed in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes throughout the year in the United States, an average of 1 alcohol-impaired-driving fatality every 48 minutes. Alcohol-impaired-driving fatalities accounted for 29 percent of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities in the United States in 2017. That's why we're urging fans to choose their game plan now: drinking OR driving.

Make a sober ride home part of your game plan before kickoff on Super Bowl Sunday. Remember: Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk.  If alcohol is part of your celebration, be a team player and do your part to prevent impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel.
