Public Invited to Swearing-in of Matt de Ferranti

The public is invited to join the Arlington County Board at the swearing-in of Board Member-elect Matt de Ferranti on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018. Mr. de Ferranti was elected to a four-year term on the County Board on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m, and will be followed by a reception outside the Board Room, Room 307 in the Ellen M. Bozman Government Center, 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington VA, 22201.
No RSVP is required.

The ceremony will be held between the afternoon and evening sessions of the December Recessed County Board Meeting. It will be live-streamed on the
County website and broadcast on
ATV, the County's cable channel, on Comcast 1085 (HD), and Verizon FiOs 39 and 40.
About Matt de Ferranti
Matt de Ferranti serves as Senior Legislative Counsel for the National Indian Education Association, where he seeks to improve education opportunity and outcomes for Native American students. A Courthouse resident, Mr. de Ferranti has served on Arlington County's Housing Commission since 2013. In 2014, he was appointed to the Arlington Public Schools Budget Advisory Council, where he served as Chair in 2017-2018. Mr. de Ferranti also has served on the County-APS Joint Facilities Advisory Commission, which brings Arlington County, Arlington Public Schools, and the community together to plan for the County's future.
Mr. de Ferranti has a Bachelor's from Duke University, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law, and a Master of Public Affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.
About the Arlington County Board
The
five-member Arlington County Board is Arlington's governing body. It is vested with the County's legislative powers. Board members are elected at-large and serve staggered four-year terms. The position of Chair rotates annually. The Chair is the official County head and presides over Board meetings. Both the Chair and the Vice Chair are elected annually at the Board's January Organizational Meeting.
