January 2017 County Board Meeting Agenda Highlights

The Arlington County Board will act on dozens of items at its January meeting, on Saturday, Jan. 28 and Tuesday, Jan. 31. The meeting is open to the public, and all are welcome. Visit the County website for procedures for speaking at a Board Meeting. (Note: the Board has adopted new procedures for speaking on Consent Agenda items). The meeting will be held on the third floor of the County Building, 2100 Clarendon Blvd.

ATV, the County's Cable station, broadcasts County Board Meetings live on Comcast 25 and Verizon 40, and webstreams the meetings. The broadcasts are live-captioned and archived. The County also broadcasts and webstreams County Board work sessions and meetings of the Planning Commission and Transportation Commission.

• Accessory homestay — Following up its adoption in December of standards and definitions for accessory homestay (such as Airbnb), the Board will consider language that would allow renters to have accessory homestays in their primary residence, and to remove limits on the number of contracts per night for accessory homestay use. Item No. 35.


• I-66 widening Environmental Assessment — The Board will consider adopting a resolution endorsing the goals of the Virginia Department of Transportation's project to widen I-66 eastbound between the Dulles Connector Road and Fairfax Drive-Exit 71 (about four miles). In the proposed resolution, the Board also says it will pursue goals of ensuring that the Commonwealth monitors and mitigates the impacts on Arlington streets, noise impacts, and impacts on cultural or natural resources. The proposed resolution also calls for VDOT to work collaboratively with all the affected jurisdictions to ensure that the final design of possible noise barriers do not unduly or negatively impact cultural or natural resources and that VDOT will not pursue more widening of I-66 inside the Beltway until after a meaningful evaluation of peak period tolling, conversion to HOT-3, tolling in both directions during peak periods, and implementation of multimodal components.
