REPORTS

ASSAULT & BATTERY ON POLICE, 2017-03140059, 2000 block of N. Sycamore Street. At approximately 2:16 p.m. on March 14, an officer on routine patrol observed a male subject allegedly tampering with bicycle locks. As the officer approached the subject to initiate the investigation, the subject attempted to flee the area. The officer was able to briefly stop the subject but he became combative and struck the officer. The officer deployed his taser, but it was ineffective due to the heavy clothing the subject was wearing.  The subject attempted to flee the area again and after a brief foot pursuit was taken into custody. Larry Fortune, 36, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with assault and battery on police, resisting arrest and possession or distribution of controlled paraphernalia. He was also wanted on outstanding warrants in Fairfax County and Prince George's County. He was held without bond.
