Changes to Arlington County Police Impound Lot

ARLINGTON, Va. — Effective February 27, 2017, there are new procedures for retrieving impounded vehicles from the Arlington County Police Impound Lot located at 4250 S. 29
th Street, Arlington, VA 22206. For details on when a vehicle may be impounded, visit the
police website. If your vehicle has been towed, call the Police Department's non-emergency number at 703-558-2222 to find out if the County or a private towing company
towed your vehicle.
Hours of OperationMonday thru Friday — 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Saturdays, Sundays and all Arlington County holidays — Closed.

Requirements for retrieving impounded vehicles: General Information
- Impounded vehicles will be released Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM ONLY.
- If towing vehicle out, tow truck must arrive at the Impound Lot before 2:30 PM.
- Personal property may be picked up Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
- The Impound Lot is closed on all Arlington County holidays.
Requirements for PickupTo
drive a vehicle out of the lot, the owner must provide:
- Valid registration
- Valid insurance
- Valid driver's license
To drive a vehicle out of the lot, these documents must be originals. The registration must match current and valid license plates on the vehicle. The license plates must be in the name of the vehicle owner.
To
tow an impounded vehicle out of the lot, the owner must provide:
- Valid registration or title.
- Title must be original and must have the owner's name on the front of the title, not just signed over on the back.
- Valid identification.
- Must be a valid U.S. identification.
- Must be a licensed tow truck.
- Tow truck must arrive at the Impound Lot before 2:30 PM.
To
retrieve personal property from a vehicle, the owner must provide:
- Valid registration or title.
- Title must be original and must have owner's name on the front of the title, not just signed over on the back.
- Valid identification
- Must be a valid U.S. identification.
- Property will NOT be released after 2:30 PM.
The owner of the vehicle may choose to designate an authorized agent to retrieve the vehicle or property. If this option is chosen, the owner's agent/designee must present ownership paperwork, as well as:
- Power of Attorney or Notarized Statement from the owner giving permission to remove the vehicle or property from the Impound Lot.
- Vehicles titled in a business name can be released with documentation that authorizes the individual claiming the vehicle (notarized statement on letterhead giving permission for individual to obtain vehicle).
