REPORTSOBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE, 161017019, 4900 block of S. Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:00 p.m. on October 17, an officer working stationary traffic enforcement at the intersection of Columbia Pike and S. Columbus Street was summoned by an employee of the 7/11. As the employee attempted to speak with the officer, a male subject intervened and became combative with the officer. The officer attempted to detain the subject in order to conduct the investigation but the subject refused to follow the officer's lawful commands and resisted arrest. The officer deployed his taser and the subject was taken into custody. The investigation revealed that two male subjects had entered the 7/11 and attempted to conceal items without paying. When confronted by an employee, the subjects threw items at the store employee as they attempted to flee. Miguel Diaz, 21, of Alexandria VA was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice, concealing merchandise, assault and battery and failure to identify. He was held on no bond.
