PUBLIC ADVISORY: Planned Police Training Exercise

Published on April 25, 2017

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Arlington County Police Department's (ACPD) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team will be participating in a joint full-scale training exercise with our local law enforcement partners on Wednesday, April 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the vicinity of the George Mason Antonin Scalia Law School. The purpose of the training is to simulate an emergency situation and a coordinated response by law enforcement agencies in the National Capital Region. Realistic training is critical to enhancing ACPD's capabilities to serve and protect the community to the best of our ability.

All training activities will be confined to the interior of the training site. Residents can expect to see an increase in public safety vehicles and law enforcement officers in the area. Those traveling near the vicinity of the George Mason Antonin Scalia Law School may hear noise originating from the training site but are reminded that this is a training exercise only.

For additional information on this full-scale training exercise, please see the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government's press release.
