Highlights from the February 25 County Board Meeting

The Arlington County Board today took several actions at its February Regular Meeting. Among the highlights:
- 15-year extension will save $1.6+ million in annual rent
- Decision made after exhaustive study of options
- Will enable restructuring of work environment to provide better service
- First steps to realize vision outlined in 2015 Western Rosslyn Area Plan
- Plan includes new school, new fire station, transportation network improvements, parks and open space, affordable housing, retail, new residential space by 2021
- Advertised rate up two cents over CY 2016
- Rate adopted in April will be at or below advertised rate
- Two public hearings in March; online feedback form
- Board to adopt FY 2018 Budget, tax rates and fees in April
- 125 affordable units to be built at 2910 South Glebe Road
- Funding from County's Affordable Housing Investment Fund
- Units will be contractually bound to remain affordable for 60 years
- 13 permanent supportive housing units, 13 accessible units
