ARLINGTON, Va. — The Arlington County Police Department and the Arlington County Sheriff's Office will gather to honor and pay tribute to the memory of the seven law enforcement officers of Arlington County who gave their lives in service to their community. Media and the public are invited to participate in the Observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. in the Arlington County Justice Center Plaza located at 1425 North Courthouse Road.

For the first time since the Police Memorial Statue was dedicated in 2005, a fallen Arlington County law enforcement officer's name will be added in remembrance. Corporal Harvey Snook passed away on January 14, 2016, as the result of cancer contracted while working in the recovery efforts at the Pentagon following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. Corporal Snook was a U.S. Army veteran and had served with the Arlington County Police Department for 27 years.
