Snow Plowing Initial Passes Completed on All Roads

- At least one passable lane on all roads
- Crews move to Phase 4: clean-up
- Continue to exercise caution
- Trash/recycling services resume Thursday
As of 5:00 p.m. today, crews transitioned to Phase 4, focusing on clean-up operations. We have completed initial passes on all primary, secondary and residential routes. This means plows have made at least one passable lane in all residential areas.
The County will continue to have resources in place for all sections to address maintenance and complaints. Phase 4 will focus on clean up, widening primary and secondary routes, as well as addressing trouble spots in residential areas. Widening and hauling snow from major corridors will continue at night when it is safest -— we will do our best to minimize disruption, but please expect some noise.
Residents should continue to exercise caution as they head out this evening and tomorrow morning as temperatures drop. Refreeze on roads is likely from water and slush.Report issues:
If your street has been missed or if you have other concerns, report it through our snow issues form
or by calling the Local Streets Snow Line at 703-228-6485 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This was a major operation that included more than 254 pieces of equipment, up to 180 drivers working continuous 12-hour shifts around the clock. In this storm alone, we used approximately 4,500 tons of salt.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as crews worked to clear streets following this historic snow storm.
