Arlingtonians Help Haiti
-Morgan Kowalski-Botelle from Santa Fe, New Mexico and cousins Bailey and Hallie Kowalski of Arlington, Virginia hosted a
“Hot Chocolate for Haiti” fundraiser at the Lyon Village Shopping Center in Arlington on January 18, on Morgan’s 15th birthday.
Serving hot chocolate and lemonade, and answering questions for donors about Project HOPE’s relief efforts in Haiti, the girls raised $1121.00.
-Williamsburg Middle School started a Heifer 4 Haiti project and has already collected almost $500.
-Swanson Middle School Red Cross, STAND and the Builders clubs participated in a Haitian Relief Change Drive that raised $939.14!
-Swanson will be closing out their Haiti Relief Drive by having a "Hats for Haiti" day on Monday, February 1st. Students
and staff will have an opportunity to break Swanson's "no hats" rule and wear a hat of their choice all day. This privilege
will only cost a $1 donation to the Haiti Relief Drive. Donations can be made for more than one hat. They will post pictures
of people wearing their hats on Swanson's website.
-Jefferson Middle School raised more than $1,000 having a similar "Hats for Haiti" day.
-Claremont Elementary School students have been involved in numerous projects through the combined leadership of fourth grade teacher Joseph Herr, students
and parent volunteers. The Claremont World Wide Helpers have been involved in a shoe drive to help support children in Haiti.
