Want to put on a Neighborhood Day event this year? Check out the list below for great community resources that can help you make Neighborhood Day a day to remember!

Have a block party or neighborhood festival! Bring people together for fun and to get to know each other. Get a permit for events that affect your street closures.

• Want to rent a moon bounce or get face painters, a DJ or a balloon artists? Hire local teens through TEAM...they are very affordable and a great way to help our local teens learn to run a business. For additional questions call 703-228-1805.
• Invite your local fire station to showcase a fire truck. Just contact the station and let them know when and where you’d like a fire truck…and pending emergencies, they’ll do what they can to bring one. For additional questions call 703-228-3362.
• Invite a County Board Member to your event! Your elected officials love supporting neighborhood events.

Get together in your neighborhood park. Have a community picnic! Rent a picnic shelter or reserve a field for a community softball, baseball, soccer or flag football event.

Clean up a stream! May is a great time to be outdoors and Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE) can help you organize a stream clean up. Hold a Neighborhood Walkabout! Help your neighbors get fit and learn about their neighborhood by holding a Walkabout. WALKArlington has developed routes and maps for many neighborhoods for you to use, including Donaldson Run, Pike Hike I, Ballston-Virginia Square Roll, George Washington's Forest, Roar through Lyon Park, Shirlington Walkabout, Walk through Nauck, Crystal City, Inside and Out, and more!

Hold a Neighborhood Day Food Drive for the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). AFAC is Arlington's food pantry and provides supplemental groceries to Arlington families in need. Your donations of non-perishable items to AFAC's pantry will help the 1,200 families who come to AFAC each week for help. Bins and posters are available.
