Opportunities to make a difference abound right here in our community. Find one that fits your passion, skills and availability through the Volunteer Arlington office or through RSVP.
Some of Northern Virginia’s most fun volunteer opportunities are with the Senior Olympics. The Northern Virginia Senior Olympics (NVSO) holds 10 days of competition every September, but work goes on throughout the year. Volunteers of all ages are needed to help with events, serve on committees, assist with promotion and registration, and boost marketing efforts. The main committee meets monthly in Annandale, sub-committees less often. For more information, call Judy Massabny, OSAP, 703-228-4721. And see www.nvso.us.
The Volunteer & Partnership Program of Arlington Public Schools brings the community into the schools to make a difference. There are many volunteer opportunities to participate in … Book Buddies, teaching computer skills to Spanish speaking adults, homework help and more. If you would like to find out how to become involved, contact Kim Durand, program specialist, for further information at 703-228-6003 or kdurand@arlington.k12.va.us.
