FitArlington - Promoting A Culture Of Fitness

 

Fit Arlington   What is FitArlington?

Led by Arlington County Board Member J. Walter Tejada and School Board Member Ed Fendley, the vision of FitArlington is to be a community in which being healthy and fit is a way of life for people of all ages and abilities. Check out FitArlington Goals, Partners and Contacts.

Mission was based on input from Community Dialogues:

  • Maximize existing opportunities to promote physical activity
  • Promote a comprehensive calendar of events
  • Provide incentives/ recognition for physical activity
  • Empower people to be fit
  • Promote policy and models for active living

  FitArlington Goals

The County will develop opportunities for exposure to physical activity, creating awareness of the benefits of physical activity as well as places and programs to learn skills and practice. pool excercise classThe Community will influence the policies and community planning to support physical activity as a lifestyle.

Goals:
-Engage volunteers to develop and lead outreach programs
-Focus on the benefits and enjoyment aspects when promoting a culture of physical activity
-Focus on the physical dimension of the wellness wheel
-Promote physical wellness as a lifestyle, by encouraging nutritious eating and physical activity


  Want to Get Involved?

We are looking for:

  • Resources and events to be promoted by FitArlington
  • Volunteers who can help create a network of community role models and mentors, or who will help us expand and promote events, resources, classes and organizations that support the FitArlington vision.
  • Help developing a larger FitArlington database, so that the community can have one-stop access to events, resources, organizations and classes.
  • Sponsors and community-minded businesses who will share resources to help get Arlington moving!
