Where else can you find one of Arlington’s oldest fire stations, an original hardware store, a modern tea house, and Arlington’s only fishing rod repair shop, all in the same block? And twenty-something other small, independently owned businesses with unique food and treasure offerings, all along busy Lee Highway? That’d be Cherrydale, representing one of only a few remaining preserved mixed use areas in Arlington – and they’re proud of their authenticity! On 5/31, they’re opening their doors, showcasing their artists, authors and performers, and hosting pop-up space for web-based businesses in the area to promote all things unique.
Starting at 12pm there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the underground wire project along Lee Hwy and the forthcoming Capital BikeShare installment, followed by musical talent, yoga and zumba demonstrations, and best of all, a scavenger hunt to visit participating businesses and collect something unique from each of them. Raffle prizes will be available and families or individuals who complete the hunt receive additional prizes! The activities and features are updated regularly on the website. Check it out to learn more and plan to spend a few hours discovering fun, authentic, Cherrydale!
This event will take place rain or shine. Website: http://discovercherrydale.info/
