55+ Travel

Whether it's a trip across the River to see the newest exhibit, or a trip across the Atlantic to see Europe, Arlington County 55+ Travel welcomes you to join us. Bring along a friend, or make a new one, we have a friendly group who always welcome a new traveler. Don't worry; we take care of all the details such as tickets and transportation. We always send along a friendly travel volunteer to ensure that all the pieces fit together and to assist if any problems arise.

Day Trips by Bus

Board the bus at one of several senior locations...and enjoy a sociable trip with all the details taken care of! Arlington Senior Adult Travel conducts more than a dozen day trips every month. Trips are advertised in the Arlington 55+ Guide. The first step in your journey:  register for the Arlington County 55+ Pass.  Call 703-228-4744 with any questions (TTY: 703-228-4743).

You can sign up at seniors centers, usually on the second Monday of the month, or you can call in your reservations the day following the Senior Center sign ups, starting at noon on 703-228-4748 to register.

Beginning in March, you will have the opportunity to register for our many day trips online. Be sure to get your online password prior to March, so you can be one of the first to register for our popular trips. Questions, or want to obtain your password, call 703-228-4744

  • Senior Women Nationals BaseballFri., Mar. 9 - Philadelphia Flower Show and Lunch at Moshulu
    Philadelphia, PA: Immerse yourself in the tropical beauty of Hawaii as you stroll through this year's Flower Show. You'll see towering volcanoes, fields of orchids, romantic beach scenes, hula fests, even a surfer's retreat re-created in the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The day's South Seas theme continues with our visit to the tall ship Moshulu for a delicious lunch.
    MAD 8:10am, LR 8:30am, returns 9:30pm
    $101 resident/$107 non-resident
  • Tues., Mar. 20 - Montpelier Mansion Tour and Tea
    Orange, VA: Take a self-guided tour of James Madison's lifelong home, lovingly restored to its period splendor. You'll learn more about our fourth president, who many called the "Father of the Constitution," and his wife, Dolly, the original Washington hostess. Then enjoy a delicious afternoon tea served in the mansion's elegant south wing. (Many steps on house tour.)

  • Tues., Mar. 27 - FedEx Field Tour
    Landover, MD: This is a trip all Redskin fans won't want to miss. See the home of Washington's favorite team, from the ‘Skins' locker room to the Owner's Club Suites. It is a great behind the scenes view of this state-of-the-art stadium. We'll enjoy a box lunch at FedEx before heading home.

    $51 resident/$57 non-resident

Heads up travelers!
No refunds are granted on any trips which require meal reservations, tickets or chartered transportation unless staff is able to sell your reserved space. "48 hour prior to trip departure time" notice is required for a refund on all other day trips. Bus leaves PROMPTLY from each site at specified time. Return times are estimated. If you have a problem on the morning of the trip, call 703-228-4748. You need a 55+ Pass to travel with us (except for first-time guests).
