It's an adventure, it's succeeding, and it's fun!

What motivates me to pull out English Ivy as an invasive species includes:
-- A great way to enjoy a beautiful day in the woods.
-- I'm liberating trees so that they can thrive, strengthening the woods.
-- I'm returning something to the community to keep the park "clean" of invasives.
-- I find it very therapeutic to look at what I have accomplished in just an hour or two.
-- By removing invasives, you make room for the native seed stock to return.
Steve Elkinton

Why we pull? To save a tree (or many!), save endangered critters, expend calories, help native plants to "make a better habitat".

I get motivated when I see the young trees getting swallowed up by vines!

The invasives are literally destroying Glen Carlin Park, a lovely area of oak and beech forest, mountain laurel and rhododendron that I have walked in for more than thirty years. I am motivated to set back their invasion and save the park.
