Creative Preschoolers' Program

Arlington County half-day preschools are designed to provide children ages 3-5 with their first social group experience outside the home. Emphasis is placed on experiencing age-appropriate recreation activities, being part of a group, cooperating, listening, sharing, developing play and movement skills, and discovering nature. Choose from two-, three- or five-day-a-week programs from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Preschool runs from September to May. Except for the preschool at Fairlington, all are co-op programs, which require parents to sign up on a rotating basis to assist the teacher with the program. Fairlington parents may assist through field trips, holiday parties and other activities, but are not required to assist on a daily basis. Contact the program below for specifics or call 703-228-4742 for more information.

Arlington County provides reduced fees based on income; however, the department no longer provides a discount to families that enroll more than one child into a program. The sibling discount was created before DPR had a fee reduction program for people with limited income. The more formal program ensures that fees are not a barrier to all who would like to participate. What's more, the fee reduction policy considers household size, which also supports families with more than one child.
