Workforce Investment Board

The Workforce Investment Board (WIB) is a business-led board that provides leadership and direction to the local workforce development system in Arlington County and the City of Alexandria. It is a 42-member board with 50% of the members appointed by the Arlington County Board and 50% appointed by the Mayor of Alexandria. The membership is comprised of prominent business and community leaders. The WIB works in partnership with the local elected officials of both jurisdictions to set direction and to provide oversight of workforce services to area job seekers and employers. Our vision is that residents have the opportunity to maximize their career potential and employers have the human resources they need to grow and prosper. Our mssion is to build, in partnership with Arlington County and the City of Alexandria governments, a local workforce development system that prepares our workforce for the 21st century.

Among the WIB's goals are to:

  • Strategically enhance the local workforce system to further meet the needs of business and to prepare the workforce for the 21st Century.
  • Ensure the delivery of quality job seeker and employer services that reflect local labor market needs.
  • Promote full inclusion of populations that are under-represented in the workforce.
