You have power over yourself!
Each day everyone in the world is confronted with different sets of problems but there are the ways we can help ourselves and others get through them.
As a teen, you have a lot of power. You have power over yourself, your actions and your thoughts. As you grow and live, you learn more about the kind of person you are and your contribution to our world and community.
Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department wants to help you in this process by building your assets. There are 40 Developmental Assets that all young people need to become healthy adults like creative activities, adult role models, youth programs, etc.

SUPPORT... EMPOWERMENT...BOUNDARIES & EXPECTATIONS...CONSTRUCTIVE USE OF TIME
We design and develop our programs to build assets by offering young people lots of choices, good relationships with staff, and safe centers.
We provide the opportunities for "asset-building" through sports, arts, clubs, volunteerism, job training, and more. We encourage you to get involved and develop your sense of self and community, make good decisions, show good sportsmanship, be creative, develop a sense of compassion and empathy to those who have different life experiences than you do.

It’s your life, live up to your potential. What are your assets?
