SOCIAL CLUBS & ACTIVITIES
Adult Social Club Membership
In order to become a "TR Adult Social Club" Member, you must sign up for a membership through the registration office. If you are new to the club, you will have to complete an intake before you can sign up for any events. The membership costs $35 per person. You will only be able to sign up for trips that are for the age group you are in. Once you are a member, you will receive a newsletter outlining the trips for your age group – either Young Adults Going Places (18-29) or Adults Going Places (30+).
YAGPSC - Adults Going Places Social Club (Ages 18-29)
- A social club for young adults with mild-severe developmental disabilities and mental health concerns
- New members must complete an intake with the TR Office prior to attending or signing up for any events
- Staff to participant ratio is 1:4 – 1:7
- Program runs from October – July each year
- Business meeting occurs on the second Friday of the month. There is one (1) weekend trip/event a month
- Meetings take place at Walter Reed Community Center, 2929 S. 16th Street, trips meet at Lubber Run Center, 300 N. Park Drive
- $35 fee for membership, extra costs will be incurred for trips to pay for tickets
- All fees for trips are payable to "Treasurer of Arlington County" and must be turned in one week before the event
- Participants must reserve slots for all meetings and trips
AGPSC - Adults Going Places Social Club (Ages 30 and up)
- A social club for adults with mild-severe developmental disabilities and mental health concerns

- Program runs from October – July each year
- Business meeting the first Friday of each month from October to June, and two (2) weekend events a month

Adult Halloween Dance! (18+)
- Join us for an evening of games, music and more! Order your tickets NOW! Contact the TR Office at (703) 228-4740. Deadline is October 22! Ages 18 and older, you do not have to be a social club member to attend

Weekenders (Ages 22-55)
- Fairfax County welcomes Arlington residents who have had a traumatic brain injury to this social club, which provides opportunities for community excursions and social activities
- Participants require minimal assistance with socialization
- Year-round, weekend excursions and social activities; times vary
- Meeting locations: Vienna Metro Station (Vienna North Parking Lot, at the Kiss & Ride) and Springfield Mall (at #2 Entrance, by Bennigan’s)
- $30.00 annual fee

FITNESS
Adapted Aquatics (Age 13+)
- Water safety and learn to swim for participants with disabilities
- Sundays, starts September 26, 2010 – 10 sessions

Fun N Fitness (Age 18+)
- Learn lifelong fitness through yoga, movement, and dance
- Tuesdays, starts September 21, 2010 – 8 sessions

Chair Aerobics (Age 18+)
- Aerobic exercise where participant stays seated in a chair or wheelchair
- Targeted to individuals with physical impairments

DANCE & ARTS
Adult Arts and Crafts (Ages 18+)
- Participants will learn how to complete different art projects
- Maximum capacity is 10
- Participants must be able to follow one and two step directions and have a desire to participate

Adapted Learn to Ice Skate (6+)
- Learn to ice skate – offered by Kettler Capitals Iceplex, this is NOT a PRCR program
- Adapted class focuses on basic skills: march, glide, swizzles, wiggles, snowplow stops, and 2 foot hops
- Fee covers cost for 7 classes and 7 free skate times
- Kettler Iceplex
- Level 1 Saturdays, starting September 11, 2010 from 10:30-11:00 am
- $133 per session

BlazeSports (all ages)
- Sports programs for children and adults with physical disabilities
- Sports include quad rugby, wheelchair basketball, sled hockey, and wheelchair tennis
