The September 11th Memorial Grove is a project recommended by the September 11th Memorial Task Force in their July 2002 Report (500K PDF format). This site is located along Arlington Boulevard between Washington Boulevard and 10th Street North and will consist of 184 trees - one tree for each victim of the attack on the Pentagon.
A consultant was hired in September 2004 to design this project. The consultant's work is expected to produce a final design, construction documentation and a cost estimate for the project.
In addition to this project, the consultant will be working on two other related projects - designing a landscape for a nearby roadway improvement project and creating a set of design guidelines for the length of Arlington Boulevard. The roadway improvement project, 10th Street North/North Courthouse Road interchange with Arlington Boulevard, is being designed and built by VDOT. For additional information please contact David C. Miller by email or by telephone (703) 228-3336.
