| Bill Thomas Park Service Award for an Outstanding Volunteer Nominations Submitted in January, nominations for the Bill Thomas Park Service Award were open to individual citizens, groups and organizations. | Walter Reed Earns Award of Excellence The Northern Virginia Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties presented Arlington County’s Walter Reed Community Center with the Award of Excellence as the Best Building, Environmentally Responsible in 2007. Walter Reed Community Center, in South Arlington, is a full-service center that supports its neighbors with senior, teen and tot community programs, and also provides programming and facilities that support the County as a whole. It opened in May 2006 and is designed to meet the Silver Standard Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™. | |
