Project Family Classes

 

 Prenatal Classes

Who can attend? Pregnant, Spanish-speaking Arlington residents

Where is it held? Human Services Center at Sequoia Plaza, 2100 Washington Blvd., Lower Level, Arlington, VA 22204

Mother and child When is it held? Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Language of Instruction: Spanish

Classes focus on fetal development, changes during pregnancy, relaxation, breathing and exercises during pregnancy, nutrition, preparing for labor, breast feeding, newborn care, infant development, family planning, baby massage, and includes a hospital visit. The class visits labor and delivery rooms at Arlington Hospital with Dr. Fernandez and Dr. Martiínez, obstetricians, on the 4th Thursday of every month.

Who can attend? Language minority Arlington residents with infants from newborn to 10 months of age.

Where is it held? Harvey Hall Community Center, 850 South Greenbrier Street, Arlington, VA 22204

Language of Instruction: Spanish

Class focus is on child development, health and safety, discipline, and routines. Parents and their babies play together: babies learn new developmental skills, and moms learn how to support their child's learning. We encourage bonding and language, cognitive, social-emotional and physical development. A Record of Developmental Milestones is maintained for consistent participants. The class provides a supportive environment for new mothers.

 Early Childhood Classes

Who can attend? For language minority and other Arlington residents with children ages 1 1/2 to 5.
