Workshops Offered

 

All workshops are sponsored by The Arlington Employment Center, and held at 2100 Washington Blvd, on the 1st floor. Pre-registration is required for all workshops and can be done at the front desk.

County On-line Applications and Recruitment Training

We will assist participants in filling out county applications to meet minimums and desirables for positions.  We will assist participates to prepare for panel style interviews used in the Arlington County Government hiring process.  This will enable participates to increase their chances of gaining employment; and to better understand the hiring process in Arlington County.

Basic Computer 

This workshop is designed to help better understand how to use computers.  Students will get a basic understanding of what a computer is, and what parts make up a computer.  This workshop will give students an idea of how to access and navigate through the internet.  The workshop ends with a mouse practice.

Federal Applications 

Join us to uncover the mystery of obtaining federal employment! Join us to discuss whether federal employment right for you. You will find out where to search for federal employment as well as how to read vacancy announcements. We will provide you with an overview on how to complete KSA's in a manner that will make your skills shine.

Financial Planning for the Newly Unemployed

This is a financial educational workshop designed to help individuals, couples and their families to manage their financial matters through a "holistic" approach.  We will explore all facets of money from growth, to saving, to budgeting and discuss the relationship our emotions play in our money management behaviors.  We will provide a "next step" solution for all who attend whether you are a newly un-employed or newly employed individual.

Interviewing I

This workshop will cover the entire interviewing process from how to prepare for it.  Identify what employers are really looking for in an interview and review common interview questions and appropriate responses.  Learn tips on how to present a dynamic benefit statement that will say to an employer "Hire me!!"

Interviewing II

This workshop will provide hands-on interviewing practice. Meet with our counselors who will simulate an interview tailored to your occupation of interest. The entire process will be recorded and reviewed with you to provide suggestions and feedback.

Have you been searching for employment in all the "right" places? This workshop will help you explore the "hidden" job market while helping you develop networking strategies.  This workshop includes hands on Internet use and learn tips on how to format and place your resume online. 

Mastering Money

Learn how to understand financial values. Learn how to create a spending plan. Learn budget saving tips.  Learn ways to manage credit.

Resume

Would you like suggestions on how to improve your resume? We will assist you with explaining the various resume types and the pros and cons of each. We will teach you how to combine all of your skills and past work experience to develop a resume that will get results. Also, you'll learn tips on how to handle difficult situations on a resume.

Stress Management

In today fast paced environment, many of us are leading stressful lives. Join us to work on stress relieving techniques that you can use both on and off the job. We will also help you develop tools to avoid or overcome stress.
