| The Water, Sewer, and Streets Bureau includes six programs funded in the General Fund and four programs funded by the Utilities Fund. The General Fund programs are: Operations Support, Capital Construction, Concrete Maintenance, Storm Sewer Maintenance and Construction, Asphalt Construction and Maintenance, and Snow Removal. The General Fund programs provide construction and maintenance services to complete street, pedestrian, storm water and capital projects. These programs are integral to the maintenance of the County's investment in its infrastructure, ensuring that Arlington is a safe, accessible, and desirable place in which to live, work and do business. The Utilities Fund component of the Water, Sewer and Streets Bureau includes five programs: Utilities Operations Support, Water System Operations, Water System Construction and Maintenance, and Sanitary Sewer Construction and Maintenance. These programs provide a safe and continuous water supply throughout the water distribution system, and ensure the unobstructed flow of the sanitary sewer collection system. The Bureau also provides administrative and engineering services required for planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of the water distribution and sanitary sewer systems. |
| Operations Support and Utilities Operations provides overall Bureau direction and coordinates personnel administration, budget preparation and control, purchasing of equipment and materials, inventory control and accounting, capital project planning, and engineering and field support for construction and maintenance in public rights-of-way. This section is responsible for investigating citizens' Police Department's and other County agencies' reports concerning service needs and problems within County right-of-ways, and for providing plans and information to field crews for maintenance programs and emergency repairs. The program provides direction and coordination of the Bureau's Utilities Fund responsibilities related to capital project planning, engineering, water stores inventory and accounting, budget preparation and control, equipment and material purchase, and personnel administration. This section also provides Engineering support for these programs and provides plans and information to field crews for maintenance programs and emergency repairs. This program also implements the Infiltration and Inflow program. |
