Arlington County 2009 Leaf Collection Schedule page
| NOTICE: It’s a busy time of year for DES. Many core services - such as brush collection, leaf vacuuming and spring yard waste - compete for limited equipment and employee resources. This year, significant back-to-back winter weather events impacted our ability to complete certain seasonal services according to schedule. For example, though leaf collection service has ended, we are still working to complete the second and final vacuum collection pass for zone five that was delayed as a result of the winter storms. However, brush collection will take priority over leaf collection this week due to an increase in pick up requests resulting from the winter storm damage. Spring yard waste collection services begin on March 22. Brush collection and spring yard waste collection requests will factor into how quickly we can complete leaf vacuuming for the remaining civic associations in zone five. Crews are diligently working to ensure minimal disruption to services however you may experience a delay in brush collection service this week due to the increase in requests We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to minimize delays and provide core services to the community. Limited Vacuum Collection Progress
Crews will pass though each civic association listed below through the month of February as the weather permits to collect leaf piles and address any misses. In order to have your leaves removed in a timely manner, we recommend bagging leaves for collection in January.
• Please only report that your street has been missed if leaves have not been collected after it has been labeled completed.

Leaf Bag Collection
Leaf bag collection has been extended until January 29, 2010.
To ensure your leaves are collected for recycling, please have your paper leaf bags placed at the curb for collection prior to 6:30 a.m. the business day after your normal trash day. Place Only Leaves in Bags - no other yard waste. Please do not use plastic bags! Check the table below for the date of your last leaf bag collection.

Christmas Tree Collection and Recycling
Don't forget to recycle your Christmas tree! Trees will be collected on your regular trash day from January 4 - January 15, 2010. Remove the tree stand and all decorations, and please do not put the tree in a plastic bag.
