Parking and Who's Responsible

Arlington County has over 53,000 on-street spaces and over 100,000 off-street spaces in garages and lots within the urban areas. The majority of on-street spaces are provided and managed by the County Government, while the majority of off-street spaces are owned, maintained and managed by the private sector. The amount of on-street spaces is limited by the amount of curb space there is in the County, so the County takes its responsibility for managing the spaces very seriously. In addition, the County works with the development community, private building owners and garage operators so that the off-street parking is shared with as many users as possible.
