The Engineering Bureau is composed of five sections: Surveys, Design, Construction Management, Project Management, and Administration. The Customer Service Section is now part of the Development Group of the Transportation Bureau. Water-Sewer Engineering is now part of Water/Sewer/Streets Bureau. is responsible for the Bureau's overall management, purchasing, personnel and payroll activities as well as for the preparation and management of the Engineering Bureau budget.

The Surveys Section
conducts topographical and boundary surveys to provide the information essential for the preparation of plans and designs for construction of capital improvement projects and also provides construction stakeout and control services. Our survey section utilizes state of the art technology including GPS (Global Positioning System) to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Project Management Section
provides the tools and resources which enable our projects to be built within schedule and budget. Specific duties include project initiation and assignment, scheduling and monitoring, budgetary tracking, resource allocation, data management, and conflict resolution. The Capital Projects Bureau also provides financial services for Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) programs such as WALK Arlington, Transit, Storm Drainage, and Paving.

The Construction Management Section
provides management and inspection services for all of the Bureau's public capital improvement projects. Our construction managers ensure that the contractors are conforming to the design and appropriate standards and specifications while minimizing the inconvenience to the community. In addition to working closely with the design and contractor, our construction managers work with the community to resolve any issues which may arise.
