Arlington adds weekend service for ART 41 and ART 61 buses

New hours give Columbia Pike, Rossyln riders more options

ART adds service

ARLINGTON, Va – Arlington is adding weekend service for two popular bus lines beginning Saturday, July 8. The new hours offer weekend travelers more options for leaving their cars behind and using public transportation to reach destinations in the heart of Arlington, where they can connect to regional transportation systems.

"Adding weekend hours on these ART lines brings us a step closer to our goal of 'no car required' for getting around Arlington any day of the week," said County Board Chairman Christopher Zimmerman. "I'm pleased that we were able to fund these additional hours on two lines that provide important transportation options for Arlingtonians. ART 41's Sunday service will offer south Arlington residents an efficient way to get to the Ballston Mall, visit Clarendon or connect to Metrorail's Orange Line. ART 61's Saturday service will make it easier for folks in Rosslyn to get to the Courthouse."

ART 41 launches Sunday service

ART 41 Columbia Pike-Ballston-Court House adds Sunday service beginning July 9, 2006. The new service begins at 11:30 am Sunday and runs to 5:40 pm. ART 41 currently runs weekdays from 6:25 am to 8:31 pm and on Saturdays from 7:00 am to 7:11 pm.

ART 41 is the perfect transit option for people who need to travel between the Columbia Pike west area and the Clarendon and Court House areas. Stops include Greenbrier St., Columbia Pike at Dinwiddie St., the intersection of Columbia Pike and Glebe Road, Ballston Common Mall, Clarendon Metrorail station (Department of Human Services), and Court House Metrorail station.

ART 61 adds Saturday service

ART 61 Rosslyn – Court House Metro Shuttle will run on Saturdays from 8:15 am to 4:10 pm beginning July 8, 2006.  The Saturday service is a convenient way for passengers to get to and from the Farmers Market held at Courthouse on Saturday mornings.

During the weekdays, ART 61 follows two loops, one clockwise and the other counter-clockwise, during weekday rush hours, 6-10 a.m. and 3-7 p.m. Saturday service will follow the clockwise loop.

ART 61 is a great way to get to Rosslyn and Court House and take advantage of all the transit options, including Metrorail and Metrobus. The route serves the Ft. Myer Heights, Radnor Heights, Colonial Terrace, Colonial Village, and North Highland neighborhoods.
