Information Technology Advisory Commission
Welcome!
The Arlington Information Technology Advisory Commission advises the Board on the following issues and concerns:
- The image of Arlington as a 21st century information and education center
- Improvement of County services through the application of IT
- Green and Smart buildings and infrastructure
- Emergency and disaster communications
- Non-regulated information systems, including Internet, CLEC, satellite, and wireless communications
- Effectiveness and efficiency of new information or telecommunications systems
- Cable TV and entertainment systems
Analog to Digital Television Transition
The United States has transitioned to all-digital television broadcasting.
If each television in your household is connected to cable, satellite or a telco service (i.e. Comcast, DirectTV, or Verizon FiOS), then no further action is required on your part.
If one or more of your televisions receives broadcasts over-the-air (i.e., with a roof top antenna or "rabbit ears"), then you may need to purchase a DTV converter box for each television set.

Verizon FIOS Rollout
Verizon is rolling out cable television and internet service across the county through fiber optic cabling direct to the home. MEETING SCHEDULE: The Commission generally meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm . The Commission meetings take place in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room at Courthouse Plaza (2100 Clarendon Blvd). Regularly scheduled meetings are sometimes changed because of external events, so please contact staff liaisons to confirm the meeting date, time and location. (Meeting minutes are in PDF format.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Public comment about any matter that is in the purview of the Commission is heard during the early part of each meeting. You do not need to pre-register, just attend and let the chairman know you would like to make a comment. If you would like to send an e-mail comment to the Commission, contact Chairman Joe Pelton.
