Advisory Groups, Authorities, & Commissions

The Arlington Urban Forestry Commission

The commission was established to bring together the expertise of existing special interest groups and other citizens and organizations with an interest in issues affecting Arlington's existing and future urban forest. The County Board established the Urban Forestry Commission to advise on the following:

  • The development, for consideration, of an urban forestry program which takes into account the Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Committee Urban Forestry Report;
  • The administration of such a program, if adopted;
  • Policies and legislation relating to trees; and
  • The development and/or coordination of other tree-related programs, such as Tree City USA, Arbor Day, the Notable Tree Committee, and an urban fund.

The Urban Forestry Commission meetings are held on a monthly basis and all are open to the public.

The Urban Forest Master Plan (PDF icon 2.24 MB) consists of a street tree inventory and an analysis of the entire forest canopy.
