Landscape Documents

The preservation of the County's trees and tree canopy coverage has been identified as a top priority by the Arlington County Board and citizens. These documents establish minimum standards and requirements for landscape plans and installations. "By-right" developers should also consult the Arlington County Zoning Ordinance for the basic requirements for developments in specific zones. The County may require additional site improvements in order to meet its mandate of protecting, preserving and enhancing its trees and tree canopy for future generations.

PLEASE NOTE that site plans subject to Arlington County Administrative Regulation 4.1 must include, as part of either the Tree Protection & Replacement Plan or Landscape Plan, tree canopy coverage analysis, including existing canopy coverage and projected 20-year canopy coverage, in accordance with the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance. See Arlington County Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance Interim Guidance Manual, section 3.2.
