County Board Meetings

Arlington County Government provides accommodations, e.g., sign language interpreters, CART, audio amplification systems, and large print materials, for qualified individuals with disabilities as described in the Americans with Disabilities Act. To arrange for an accommodation, please call the County Board office at 703-228-3130 (TTY 703-228-4611). Please make requests for accommodations at least 5 days prior to the meeting.

Translation services in Spanish are available at regular Saturday County Board Meetings from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please see the Clerk or Deputy Clerk to the County Board at the meeting for assistance. For translation services for Consent Agenda and Public Hearing items, which are typically heard later than the above time, individuals are encouraged to call the Clerk or Deputy Clerk to the County Board at 703-228-3130 (TTY 703-228-4611) at least three (3) days prior to the meeting. Persons needing translation services in other languages are encouraged to call the Clerk or Deputy Clerk at least three (3) days prior to the meeting. Translation services are also available for recessed or special meetings if requested at least one day in advance by calling the Clerk or Deputy Clerk.

County Website

The Arlington website includes several features designed to improve accessibility for users with disabilities, including images on the site that contain 'alt tags.'  Alt Tags aid users who listen to the content of the site by using a screen reader, rather than reading the site. Likewise, a 'skip to' link provides these users with a method for bypassing the header and going directly to the main content each time a page is accessed.

Users can get information regarding the accessibility of Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files from the Access Adobe website.

To improve the accessibility of the Arlington website, Arlington reviews the site's accessibility with outside web tools and periodically will ask users with disabilities to review the site. Adjustments are then made as necessary.

If you have a disability and the format of any material on our website interferes with your ability to access some information contained on our site, please email the webmaster. The webmaster will refer your request to the appropriate Department component. The component will respond promptly to you by providing you with an alternate format of the requested material. Parks, Recreation & Cultural Activities

The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources is committed to promoting positive participation by providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities upon request. Filing an ADA Grievance

Any individual who believes he or she has been discriminated against by Arlington County Government on the basis of disability in the areas of physical access, program access, and/or communication access may file an ADA Grievance (19 Kb, PDF format) Complaints on behalf of classes of individuals are also permitted.
