BOSS Car Wash to support "Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers"
BOSS Soldiers will accept donations for washing your car and will also be selling hot dogs, drinks and other refreshments. Entering Fort Myer: You may enter Fort Myer through Hatfield Gate, accessed off of Washington Blvd. at 2nd Street, or Wright Gate, at the corner of North Meade Street and Marshall Drive (just past the Iwo Jima Memorial). Motorists should be prepared to show a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration. Visitors ages 18 and older should be prepared to show a photo ID.

Tour The Old Guard Caisson Stables
Tour the stables and see the beautiful horses used to support honors funerals at Arlington National Cemetery and ceremonial events around the National Capital Region. After visiting the stables, stop by The Old Guard Gift Store.

Walking Tour of Rosslyn
Learn about Rosslyn and get some exercise with Eric Landuyt. Meet Marine Corps Iwo Jima Memorial, go past Dark Star Park, and then through some of the neighborhoods in Rosslyn as Landuyt tells stories about local history during the Civil War and of the Wright Brothers, who tested their aircraft for the military at Fort Myer. The tour ends at Key Bridge, where a stone from the 19 century-era Aqueduct Bridge is visible in the Potomac River.

Help Arlington Get Rid of Invasive Plants in Tuckahoe Park!
Help rescue Tuckahoe Park from alien plant invaders and protect the trees and wildlife habitats of Tuckahoe. If you have your own garden gloves and tools, please bring them along. Some tools will be provided. Be sure to come dressed for work, wear long pants, long sleeves and perhaps a hat. You may also want to bring along a reusable water bottle. Meet in the circle in front of Tuckahoe Elementary. The park site leader Mary will meet you there to give an orientation and tour of the work already done by Tuckahoe Elementary Students before we head out to work. You can park along Sycamore Street or in the school parking lot. Pre-registration is not required but appreciated.

High School Outdoor Soccer Tournament at Barcroft
Neighborhood teens can pull together a soccer team to play at Barcroft! Only $30 a team. Team captains must attend a pre-tournament meeting on May 15 from 4-5pm at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center. Team registration deadline is May15 at 5pm. Individuals may go to Barcroft to try to pick up a team, but spots aren’t guaranteed.

"Trash to Treasure” drive: We will be collecting: batteries (no car batteries), blankets, towels, old tennis balls, baby gates, pillow cases, newspaper bags, shoeboxes,cell phones, printer cartridges, plain dry cleaning hangers (no paper), plant nursery pots (1 gallon or larger), bubble wrap, tyrofoam, packing peanuts, Tyvek envelopes, shrink wrap, yarn (women's detention center makes shelter blankets), denim for insulation in home rebuilding, yogurt cups, bottle caps, corks, string, yarn, water bottles, buttons, ribbons, egg cartons, baby food jars, shoe boxes, newspaper for classroom projects. Parent volunteers needed to transport items to local organizations that will recycle/reuse them. Host your own Diversity Dialogues!
On May 13, the Arlington Committee of 100 sponsored Diversity Dialogues co-hosted by Macedonia Baptist Church. Over 100 community members came together to engage in café-style conversations to explore how community organizations and individuals can implement the Diversity Dialogue Task Force recommendations.
