Mission
The Third District Team is committed to actively working within the community, which is composed of fourteen Civic Associations and businesses. Team members patrol the same neighborhoods, on a permanent basis, in a proactive partnership with the community to identify quality of life issues and crime problems in their neighborhoods. The team’s primary focus will be to utilize effective and tested problem solving methods aimed at reducing crime, thereby improving the overall quality of life for residents and businesses in the Third District. Members of the team will strive to deliver the highest quality of public service to the citizens of the Third District in a manner reflecting the highest degree of trust, dignity, and respect. Currently the team is comprised of four police officers, one Sergeant and one Captain who are dedicated to providing quality police services to the most diverse community of Arlington County.
Policing Philosophy
The Third District Team will not limit their activities to the reduction and prevention of crime, but will work with Civic Associations, neighborhoods, businesses and citizens to solve ongoing problems. Developing partnerships with the business community and the residents of the Third District is necessary to reduce crime. Providing the community with updated crime information will help to heighten residents’ awareness and perception of safety. The team will partner with other County agencies to have a more positive impact on the community’s quality of life. The Third District Team will strive for a more personalized approach to policing by working closely with the community we serve.
