The Parent Education Program is part of Arlington County's Department of Human Services, Division of Child and Family Services. The mission of the Parent Education Program (PEP) is to strengthen families by providing parents and other family members with the parenting tools, strategies and skills to help provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for their children. The Parent Education Program offers parenting classes and workshops, Learn at Home parenting kits, and information and referral services to connect parents with the resources they need.
PEP offers a variety of free parenting programs for Arlington County residents. Classes address a variety of parenting issues and aim to provide parents with a nurturing and supportive environment where they can openly discuss their parenting concerns and gain insightful, up-to-date, research-based parenting information, tools, strategies and techniques for raising happy, healthy children. Some classes are available specifically to parents who are mandated to take parenting classes by the courts, social services, or other service providers. Other classes and workshops are open to the general public. Programs are available in English and Spanish. Childcare is available for some programs.
