The Arlington County Parent Education Program

The Parent Education Program is part of Arlington County's Department of Human Services, Division of Child and Family Services. The mission of the Parent Education Program (PEP) is to strengthen families by providing parents and other family members with the parenting tools, strategies and skills to help provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for their children. The Parent Education Program offers parenting classes and workshops, an online parenting parent education program, and information and referral services for other Arlington County and Northern Virginia parenting resources.

Services

The Arlington County Parent Education Program (PEP) offers a variety of free parenting programs for Arlington County residents. Classes offered are tailored to a variety of parenting needs and aim to provide parents with a nurturing and supportive environment where they can openly discuss their parenting concerns and gain insightful, up-to-date, research-based parenting information, tools, strategies and techniques for raising children in today’s society. Some classes are available specifically to parents who are mandated to take parenting classes by the courts or social services or who are referred by county service providers; other classes are open to the general public. Classes are available in English and Spanish. Childcare is available when necessary. Two to six hour workshops (with childcare) are also available. Requests for workshops at your site should be directed to the Parent Education Coordinator at dhsparenteducation (at) arlingtonva.us
