Own a dog?

The Code of Arlington County requires that all dogs living in Arlington for at least six months are to be licensed. Virginia code § 3.1-796.86 requires that dogs more than four months old must be vaccinated against rabies. License fees are $10 for one year or $25 for three years. Service dogs are not required to have an Arlington County dog license.

How to Apply for a Dog License

By Mail (new registrations and renewals):

Please send a completed Dog License Application, a current rabies vaccination certificate, and a check for the appropriate amount ($10 for one year, $25 for three) made payable to "Treasurer, Arlington County" to:

Payments can be made by cash, check, money order, debit card, or credit card. Please note: a 2.5% fee (charged by the credit card processor) is added to all credit card transactions.

Online (renewals ONLY):
