Fingerprinting

  • When can I be fingerprinted?
    • Monday- Thursday, 1:30-3:30
    • Applicants should bring the necessary print cards with them - we have blank FD-258 cards that we can provide, but you must check with your agency to verify that these cards are acceptable.
  • What form of ID do I need?
    • A picture ID containing your signature and an expiration date (i.e. driver's license, passport)
  • What is the fee?
    • $10.00 for the first card, $5.00 for each additional card (CASH ONLY)
  • The Sheriff's Office provides fingerprint cards for the following:
    • Concealed Handgun permits - No fee. Bring the application and a photo ID that verifies the address on the form.
    • Expungement - $15.00. Bring a copy of the petition that is on file with the Court and a copy of the original arrest warrant.
    • Message Therapist are no longer required to be fingerprinted.  For more information, please click here.

  • Fees for Civil Process
    • In-State Service = $12.00 per person
    • Out-of State Service = $75.00 per person
    • No fees shall be assessed for the service of protective orders
    • For process not issued by a court the check must be made payable to "Sheriff of Arlington County"
  • Eviction Procedures
    • A five (5) day pay or quit notice must be initiated by the landlord.  Service of this process may be made by Sheriff's Office personnel, anyone over eighteen (18) years of age who does not have a personal interest in the matter or by certified mail.
    • A thirty (30) day notice may be initiated by the landlord if the tenant is in violation of the lease/rental agreement.  This notice advises the tenant the he/she has thirty days to vacate the premises.  Service of this process may be made by Sheriff's Office personnel, anyone over eighteen (18) years of age who does not have a personal interest in the matter or by certified mail.
    • A summons for Unlawful Detainer may be issued by the General District Court if the tenant does not comply with the five (5) or thirty (30) day notice.  This notice must be served by Sheriff's Office personnel and will be scheduled for a court date allowing the opportunity for the tenant and landlord to appear.
    • If judgment is rendered in favor of the landlord, a Writ of Possession is issued.  A ten (10) day appeal period will follow giving the tenant an opportunity to appeal this decision.
    • Following this issuance of the Writ of Possession, the Sheriff's Office has up to thirty (3) days to execute the eviction.
    • A Deputy will coordinate with the landlord to schedule a date and time for the eviction of the tenant.
    • The tenant will be given a minimum of 72 hours notice of the date and time of the scheduled eviction.
    • The Sheriff's Office reserves the right to postpone a scheduled eviction due to inclement weather.
    • The landlord must arrive on time; a Deputy will wait no longer than 10 minutes after the scheduled time and will leave the scene of the planned eviction.
    • The landlord or his agents must not enter the swelling until the Deputy has arrived.  Entering before the Deputy arrives will result in the cancellation of the Writ and the eviction will not be executed.

Detention Facility

Detention Center Visitation:

        Professional Visiting hours are Monday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and then from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

        Personal Visiting hours are 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. On Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and then from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

Deposit Money for Inmates

        Money Orders for Inmates may be dropped off during visiting or mailed to the address below. Only funds in the form of a money order, cashier's check, or certified check, not to exceed         $100, are accepted.

        A kiosk is also available in the lobby of the Detention Center to deposit money to an inmate's account using cash, debit or credit card.
