Arlington Virginia Police Tactical Unit
The role of the Tactical Unit is to provide a plain-clothes support and enforcement for the Operations Division and Criminal Investigations Division of the Police Department. Currently eight officers and a sergeant staff the unit.
Tactical officers are routinely deployed throughout the County in response to definitive crime patterns or for the covert surveillance of suspects. The unit does proactive enforcement in areas of the County where there have been high incidents of criminal activity, such as: narcotics violations, auto larcenies, burglaries and robberies. Tactical officers also assist with the execution of search and arrest warrants.
