Beginning mid-November, 2009 Thomas Jefferson Middle School, Theater, Community Center and Fitness Center will be undergoing a major construction renovation that will significantly enhance the spaces used by many. This work will continue through summer 2010 and should be completed prior to the start of the new school year. At times, such work may result in loud noise between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Further, such work may result in periodic scheduled closures that will be communicated to patrons through the Thomas Jefferson Community Center webpage and through weekly communications from the TJ Listserv. Meeting room (50 person capacity), game room, art studios (pottery, photography, jewelry and wood working), gymnasium, indoor track, accessible pre-school and school-aged playgrounds, basketball courts (outdoor), tennis courts with lights (outdoor), fitness trail (approximately 1/2 mile long), soccer field, par course, fitness center, accessible public restrooms, showers, changing rooms, lockers*, towel service, sauna, pay phone, water fountain, vending machines (snack/beverage) * Lockers at TJ are available for rental at a cost of $60/year. Locker rental paperwork is available at the community center. Coin operated lockers also available for 50 cents (quarters only). You may not keep items locked overnight. Daily lockers also available at no cost… bring your own lock. You may not keep items locked overnight.

ProgramsArt Studios (Closed June 23 - September 7, 2010. See more details.)
The open art studios at Thomas Jefferson Community Center are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Open studio sessions are designed for individuals to work independently in a creative and safe environment. Previous experience and basic skills are necessary since there is no instruction provided during these sessions. The TJ Art Studio page includes information about equipment for the jewelry, photography, pottery and woodshop studios. The Studios also host Girl Scout Workshops and the Paint-A-Plate program. This spacious facility boasts an indoor track, basketball and volleyball courts, Cybex and Nautilus and free weight equipment, an outdoor fitness trail, outdoor tennis and basketball courts. Amenities at this site include comfortable locker rooms, showers and saunas. "TJ" as it is often referred to, is also the site of many classes including Inside Cycling and sports activities including leagues. Personal training is also offered at this location. Description: Court is set-up for Men's League Play. Available on a first-come, first-served basis. Variety of groups form and play and there is a variety of playing levels. One court available; no court reservations accepted. Pickleball (Drop-In/Pick-Up)
Days: Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday/Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Description: One court is usually available during the hours indicated above, but a second court is sometimes set-up. This is available to all ages and this location is the home of the Northern Virginia Senior Olympic Pickleball Tournament. Basketball (Adult Drop-In)
