The North Tract Project

Help Choose A Name For Arlington's Newest Park!

With construction set for this Spring, it's time for the County Board to select a name for the new state-of-the-art county park on the Icon: PDF North Tract site (3MB).

Here's your chance to submit suggestions and make your preferences known. Take The Survey To Help Choose A Name For Arlington's Newest Park!

What’s in a name? A lot when you are identifying the County’s newest and most comprehensive park. The community’s vision is to transform the North Tract into a distinctive showplace of environmentally sound redevelopment, with a central expanse of attractive public green spaces and high-quality indoor and outdoor recreation facilities that are accessible to all Arlingtonians. Built on 28-acres, the new facilities will include something for everyone:

  • Trails to walk, run bike or skate with spectacular views of Washington D.C., Crystal City, the Pentagon, and Roaches Run Wildfowl Sanctuary;
  • Four full-size synthetic grass fields with lighting to nurture homegrown talent and bring world-class events to the area;
  • Public event area to build community and strengthen connections;
  • Fifty meter pool for lap swimming, classes, and competitions to keep Arlingtonians fit and to bring top swimmers to the area;
  • Leisure and therapy pool(s) for fun, play, teaching, therapy and exercise so that all residents, no matter their abilities or interest will benefit;
  • Exercise rooms with free weights, cardiovascular equipment, and classes to enhance the health and fitness of the community.

Check out the North Tract web site for more background on this fabulous new park or read an overview of the history and heritage of the site.

Now - what name best sums up the promise and attractions of this park? The North Tract Naming Committee, a group of volunteers reporting to the North Tract Design Advisory Committee, suggests these names for community review.

  • Arlington Green
  • Brickworks Green
  • Long Bridge Park
  • River Passage Park
