Funding
The County Board discussed the capital financing of the project in its FY 2005-10 Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) discussions in the spring of 2004. Long Bridge Park, known at the time as the North Tract project was considered among all other countywide projects and the Board’s CIP priorities.
$50 million for construction of the first phase of the park was made part of the Fiscal Year 2005 Park Bond Referendum and approved by Arlington voters in November 2004. The County will explore developing public-private partnerships to attract private investment in the project, in order to complete the full build out of the park and building.
