The Columbia Pike Library was founded in 1930 by charter members of the Women's Club of Arlington. In 1936, it became a part of the Arlington Government. Over the years, the library has moved several times to accommodate expanding collections and services.
Currently, the library shares its site with the Arlington Career Center. Prior to that, the Arlington Library, as it was called when it was founded, had several homes including a refurbished garage, the old Columbia School and rented storefronts.
Columbia Pike branch has a comprehensive College & Career section that covers a variety of job, career and academic information since this branch also supports the programs at the Arlington County Career Center.
The branch also specifically provides services to LEP by providing reading areas, periodicals and audiovisual materials in several languages; ESL materials and tours of the library.
The library also provides access to the Internet and to Informe, Consulta, and Nueva Enciclopedia Cumbre en línea -- databases that provides access to periodicals, encyclopedias, and reference books in Spanish.
