Tour Bus Parking Information

 Tour Bus Parking

Tour bus parking is accommodated in Arlington through the designation of specific parking areas. Tour bus parking is provided as a service by the Transportation Engineering Division. Tour bus parking outside of the designated areas or zones is a violation of County law and will be treated as a violation by the Police Department. Tour bus parking areas are defined according to the needed parking duration. Tour buses are not permitted to park at parking meters, except in special situations in which significant hardship can be proven and each request must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If a permit is approved for use of metered parking spaces, an administrative fee and cost recovery for meter revenue will be charged.

Overnight or long term (over three hours) tour bus parking.
Buses are not permitted to park on the street either overnight or for longer than three hours at designated tour bus parking zones.

Short-term (2 or 3 hours depending on location) tour bus parking is permitted on specific streets which are designated for this purpose. The streets which are signed as "Tour Bus Parking - Up To Two (or Three) Hours - No Idling" are as follows:

North Quincy Street (east side) - between Wilson Boulevard and North Glebe Road

South Hayes Street (west side) – between Army Navy Drive and 15th Street South

18th Street South (north side) – between South Eads Street and Clark Place

North Arlington Ridge Road (east side) – between 19th Street North and Wilson Boulevard

Active unloading and loading tour bus parking is permitted on specific streets which are designated for this purpose. No designated dwell time is specified as it is expected that the buses will vacate the zone after passengers have boarded or alighted. The streets which are signed as "Tour Bus Parking – Active Loading and Unloading Only – No Idling" are as follows:

South Hayes Street (west side) – between Army Navy Drive and the beginning of the short-term tour bus zone

North Kent Street (west side) – 1800 block near 19th Street North

Two additional tour bus parking options are currently under review by the Transportation Engineering Division. Off-street parking is being considered as a joint-use with the solid waste recycling center located on North Quincy Street. This site may accommodate three or four tour buses. Tour bus parking meter zones, sized to accommodate the length of buses, are under consideration. Meter rates appropriate to the amount of curb space utilized would apply.
