Tenant - Landlord Commission

 

The Tenant-Landlord Commission established in 1974, is an advisory board to Arlington’s County Board. The Commission has nine members appointed by the County Board for three-year terms. There are three representatives from each of the following groups: Tenants, Landlords and Public Interest (home owners who do not own rental property.) Responsibilities of the Commission are to:

  • Provide information to tenants and landlords
  • Hear grievances and mediate disputes between tenants and landlords
  • Advise the County Board on policy and programs i.e. Relocation of Tenants
  • Propose legislation for the County Board’s recommendation to the General Assembly

The Tenant-Landlord Commission meets the third Wednesday of the month at Courthouse Plaza, 2100 Clarendon Blvd. Conference Room A - Lobby.

County staff handles the day-to-day inquiries for information, referrals, advice and mediation from citizens regarding tenant-landlord issues. Staff is bi-lingual and available to assist citizens with tenant-landlord issues Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at either 703-228-3765 or via email.
