Arlington County Workforce Housing Initiative is a public/private partnership created to promote homeownership for persons employed within Arlington County.

The Workforce Housing Initiative provides special mortgage products and resources , homeownership education, and financial literacy training , and discounts on selected properties from participating residential developers.

Currently, there are seven employers participating, with a combined workforce of over 11,000, representing over 6% of the total Arlington Workforce.

Resource available through the Workforce Housing Initiative:

  • $500 closing cost reduction or $500 on an American Express ® branded prepaid gift card - $500 value * for mortgage loans obtained with participating Mortgage Lender, plus an additional $200 American Express ® branded prepaid gift card - $200 value * if you use the partnering title company for settlement.
  • $1,000 closing cost reduction or $1,000 American Express ® branded gift prepaid card - $1,000 value * when using one of our participating Realtors.
  • Both First-time and repeat homebuyers are eligible to receive the gift prepaid cards.
  • Special Workforce Housing mortgage products offered through the Virginia Housing and Development Authority , and Freddie Mac.
  • Discounts of $10,000 or more for selected Arlington properties purchased with participating Residential Developers.
  • Free Homeownership and Financial Literacy courses offered through Arlington Home Ownership Made Easier (AHOME).
  • Freddie Mac LogoThrough Freddie Mac's Workforce Home Benefit, Freddie Mac's employer-assisted housing program, employees will have access to a variety of home buying resources, including flexible mortgages, down payment assistance from various programs, home buyer education and credit counseling.

40 first-time homebuyer Workforce Housing employees purchased one and two bedroom condominium homes, with pricing from $160,000 to $220,000.
