Affordable Units

Committed Affordable Units (CAFs)
The County is acting to develop new and preserve existing affordable housing. Rental Committed Affordable Units (CAFs) are those units committed to remain affordable through nonprofit ownership, site plan conditions, or government program requirements. Rental CAFs serve low and moderate income households for a minimum of 30 years. Owner CAFs are owner-occupied units whose owners received County subsidy to assist with the purchase. In FY 2012, the County added 293 CAFs, including 292 rental and 1 owner unit. This raised the total CAF rental supply to 6,585 units. The County has a housing target of adding 400 CAFs per year.
